Odisha Police arrest CA in ‘fraud’ loan application case
The economic crime wing of the Odisha Police has arrested Neerav Gupta, a Chartered Accountant (CA) for his alleged involvement in an illegal loan application case, police said on Tuesday.
Gupta, a resident of Gurugram, was arrested at Paschim Vihar, West Police Station area of New Delhi on July 30 this year.
After presenting him to the Metropolitan Chief Magistrate’s Court, Tis Hazari Court in New Delhi, Gupta was brought to Bhubaneswar on remand, EOW officials said.
The arrest was made on the basis of an investigation into an allegation by a certain Sakti Prasad Dash from Bhubaneswar of harassment and mental torture by the recovery agents of the Kredit Gold loan application by sending him messages. abusive messages and transformed photographs, etc.
According to police officials, Dash after downloading the loan application received the instant loan amount of Rs. 9,000 which was credited to his account. It was only after four days that he received WhatsApp messages/calls to repay Rs. 15,627.
Subsequently, he received calls and messages from different mobile numbers which were traced to the number of a company, namely Good Start Business Pvt Ltd, whose director is Nitin Malik, they said. . The EOW has already arrested Nitin in this case.
CA Neerav Gupta has opened many shell companies purposely to be used by Chinese nationals to facilitate cash transaction related to digital loan apps. Gupta received Rs. 30 lakh from the Chinese nationals for selling the shell companies to facilitate the trading of loan applications, EOW officials have informed.
The defendant not only registered the shell companies, but also organized the directors of the companies for nominal pay, they added.
The international gang runs at least 10 such illegal loan apps and there are more than a lakh downloads of the Kredit Gold app alone.
