EOW arrests CA in illegal loan application case
Bhubaneswar, August 2: The Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of the Odisha Crime Branch has arrested a Chartered Accountant (CA) in connection with an illegal digital loan application case.
The accused was identified as Neerav Gupta from Huda in Gurgaon.
Reportedly, a Sakti Prasad Dash from Bhubaneswar had filed a complaint alleging harassment, extortion and mental torture by the recovery agents of digital lending app ‘Kredit Gold’ by sending him abusive and altered photographs.
During the investigation, it was revealed that after downloading the Kredit Gold app, Dash received the instant loan amount of Rs 9,000 credited to his account.
It was only after four days that he received WhatsApp messages and calls to repay Rs 15,627.
Later, he received calls and messages from different mobile numbers which were traced to the number of a company, namely Good Start Business Pvt Ltd, whose director is Nitin Malik, previously forwarded in this case. . Taking the lead from Mallik, the EOW stopped Paschim Vihar’s Gupta.
“Gupta is a Chartered Accountant. It opened a good number of shell companies purposely to be used by Chinese nationals to facilitate the cash transaction related to digital loan apps. In return, he was getting a lot of money from the Chinese people through Nitin, directly from China, and through Allipay’s QR code,” an EOW official said.
“Numerous incriminating documents like a laptop, two mobiles, 11 shell company seals, five digital signature certificate tokens, four checkbooks from four shell companies and numerous incriminating cats available in his laptop and phones were found. recovered, collected and seized in Gupta,” the EOW official informed.
